I'm so happy to hear about this new printer from EPSON that saved me from having to part with a new appraisal for 2 whole years. The last EPSON printer I had was my dad's dot matrix printer, it was loud although very reliable and did a great job of printing. That's why I have a lot of HP inkjet/deskjet printers. For many reasons when I need to buy most of the new ink, there is usually an offer for a new HP printer which is cheaper than buying a new set. But, in large part because after a year or so, most no longer play a role.

Back to this new EPSON printer, the box is the average dimension for a printer. Setup takes less than 15 minutes and is quite unique. Instead of switching to a "starter kit", the installation of the 4 ink compartment fills with the liquid ink that came with the printer. Once you've filled up the initial compartment, leftovers are very easy, in fact spill-resistant in the sense that you don't want to drip ink down the compartment until it's placed in the correct position (the notch is properly aligned) and placed at a 90 degree angle. The ink is almost dripping once the compartment is full. I didn't throw away these 4 bottles of ink because there is very little ink left and it's in the written instructions if we want to take the next action. Once all 4 compartments are filled, the printer needs to "fill" the ink, this is quite simple and takes about 10 minutes to complete. This filling process uses very little ink so it runs out, I fill the compartment with the remaining amount for 4 colors.

The advantages of software for printers are quite easy. It arrives with a CD or a link to get the installation. I choose to use the install link if I get the latest type/driver. Everything was super easy to the point where I needed to link the printer to my Computer. To do this, a USB cable (not listed) or a Wi-Fi connection is required. Since I couldn't get my USB cable together and I can't even remember the last time I used it (the HP deskjet days), I chose the Wi-Fi option. The first step is to connect the printer to Wi-Fi. I happen to have a router with a WPS button so setting it up is pretty easy. Pressing and holding the WPS button on my router prompts the printer to connect (I don't remember the steps) and I'm connected within a minute. One thing I wonder is that since this printer doesn't have a mini display of any kind, how do users connect this printer if you have an older router (without the WPS button). My current main printer ( CANON) has a mini screen and 4 way arrow keys which I can use to type in the Wi-Fi password, I can't believe how to do it with this printer.

I bought some EPSON bright white pro for printing and the results are pretty good. One of them is actually facing a problem when printing a regular PDF file to fit the paper. I'm also trying to print a photo to an HP Premium Photo printer and there seems to be a problem seeing it match the drawing paper. For these last 2 tests, it only printed one quadrant of the PDF or photo I was trying to print. I need to know if I've forgotten a single step somewhere.

Okay, in fact because of the effort to unload the paper slider that can be adjusted manually to increase the dimensions of the paper, the printer can't know the dimensions of the loaded paper. In this case I only had 4X6 drawing paper and the second time I was able to print all the photos on it. I have to say the quality is pretty good. I have to remember to check the dimensions of the paper and I think I can easily automate it if the printer can't find the dimensions automatically.

Overall, I am happy with my experience so far. Most importantly recognize that I don't need to buy any more ink for another 2 years. I just hope the printer itself lasts that long. does this printer last as long as the ink it comes with? I certainly hope so and if it does, so I would like to say that I consider it an advancement in the printer segment of course.
